With
a degree in Art Education, and graduate work in design, Pat Pauly is happiest
when she is constructing things. Drawn to the textile arts, she used fabric as
a medium of choice when exploring printmaking in 1980. She started quilting in
1981, and soon her quilts were shown both locally, at the Minnesota State
Fair, and nationally at Quilt National. While
working as an exhibition designer, she designed exhibitions for topics as
diverse as dinosaurs, to Impressionist paintings to Tiffany glass. In an
exhibition that ran from 2004-2005, she was given the chance to both design
and curate an exhibition of the quilt collection of the Pat
grew up outside of Pat is known for her improvisational technique, her bold use of color and unusual juxtaposition of printed fabric. Her workshops on contemporary art quilts carry the same qualities as her work—energized, spontaneous, and artistic. Pat Pauly is seen here with her quilt "Water, Earth II," 2007 at the exhibition gallery of the Arts and Cultural Council of Greater Rochester Selected
